Seeking Balance

In the midst of the dynamic dance of life, an active, vibrant centre emerges, that holds the viewer and allows them to feel the ever surging breath of existence around them.

I Have Spoken

The word, orange/red/black, is forming and shaping the world around it. Amidst the blue of the depths, yellow white forms begin to grow in response. "I Have Spoken" challenges the viewer to find the stillness of their ever active centre.

Threshold

Standing at the abyss of existence we have to face all that life has brought to us. Whether for the good or for the bad, we must face it and take account. This image brings with it a sense of resolution, of resiliance to all that the individual must pass through on their journey through life.

In this picture no active centre is there to hold the balance between the throbbing and vital battle between light and dark. Yet the onlooker feels, wherever they look, that there is a balance striving to come about.

The almost too brilliant white, shaded and diffused by the yellow, creates an energetic dance of light that would cover over the sins of the world!

Seeking Peace

In this active dialogue in blue, it is as though, behind a veil, there is a conversation. It is softly, but clearly spoken, always remaining in balance. This gives the observer a feeling of rest in action, of silence within discourse.

The Sea of Life

Through the passions and trials of life the sea breaks through, sometimes calm, sometimes stormy, but always bringing a harmonising influence in the end. Stimulated by the powerful red the onlooker can feel how the surging blue brings it to a dynamic balance.

The gold seeping through the pulsing ultramine background strives to contrast the darkness. But the chaos has a force and power of it's own and won't be settled.

Philip Beaven is a multi faceted artist who has explored both visual and performance arts. His early career was in eurythmy creating performances and touring all over Europe and America. These involved developing coloured light experiences to frame the performances. That progressed to theatre, having studied at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, before taking up teaching. Through his engagement with the arts as a Waldorf teacher his interest in expression through colour has developed. The paintings on this website reflect his exploration of how the deeper layers of the soul are shone through by spirit.
